What is Obesity?
In simple terms, Obesity is a medical condition in which an extreme amount of body fat accumulates in the upper and lower body parts, leading to adverse health effects. Worldwide, obesity is measured using the Body Mass Index (BMI). If a person's BMI equals 30 or more than 30, that person is classified as overweight.
However, according to Ayurveda, obesity is an imbalance in Kapha Dosha, the earth and water elements of the body. Poor Agni is the body's digestive fire that causes insufficient digestion, leading to the Accumulation of Ama (toxins), which causes the growth of fat tissue.
