What is Osteoporosis?
The term "osteoporosis", "osteo" means "bone" the word "porosis" means "porosity" or "porous." "Osteoporosis" means "porous bones." By connecting these links, we can easily understand osteoporosis, in which bones become weak and prone to fracture. Osteoporosis is also known as a "silent disease" worldwide because it doesn't show any signs or symptoms. The early stage of osteoporosis is osteopenia; in this stage, the body starts losing bone mass, and if not treated on time, the body starts losing too much bone mass and makes significantly fewer bones, leading to osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis mainly starts in men after age 50 because of low testosterone and calcium deficiency. However, it is very common in women after menopause because of a decline in estrogen, which protects the bone. According to the Global Health report, one in three women and one in five men have osteoporosis, which makes their daily lives difficult.
